Public Policy Outreach Committee

Mission

We will assure that individuals and families receive information concerning public policy proposals that potentially impact people with developmental disabilities or acquired brain disorders and to provide support and training for their advocacy efforts;


Educate decision makers concerning needs of individuals and families and the potential impact of proposed policy decisions.

Membership

Membership shall be comprised of representation from Community Crossroads Board of Directors, Family Support Council, the Public Policy Liaison; interested staff is open to individuals receiving services, their family members, and community members.

Responsibilities

Our mission shall be accomplished through:

  • Acquiring and regularly distributing information on relevant proposed public policy matters and legislation
  • Providing education/training and support to families and other stakeholders
  • Hosting legislative coffees where legislators and/or legislative candidates and families can come together and educate each other
  • Encouraging families and other stakeholders to make their voices heard through personal contacts, attendance at hearings, provision of written and oral testimony and through their voting decisions
